Vento Australasia has participated in a Victorian State Government initiative to provide inspiration to the next generation of energy efficient relocatable classrooms. As part of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development’s (DEECD) exemplar relocatable building named ‘envi’, Vento Australasia has tailored a highly intelligent natural ventilation system for the prototype classroom expected to be launched for use in October 2011. To provide natural cooling and maintain an optimum internal environment, Vento Australasia created a hybrid system utilising automated windows from WindowMaster™ and secure, solar-powered roof top ventilation from Monodraught.
First Five Star, Green Star School in New Zealand!
84 WINDCATCHERS were installed into Ormiston Senior College in Auckland New Zealand, which has become the first Five Star, Green Star education facility in New Zealand! The college received a five Green Star rating of 68 points, 6 points shy of a 6 star rating! The installation of 84 WINDCATCHER units allowed the college to secure 1 point for Green Star Innovation – an accreditation that is extremely difficult to obtain.
Green Star is a voluntary environmental rating system administered by the independent Green Building Council of NZ. A 5 star rating is given when a project adheres to a standard of excellence in sustainability through the use of natural lighting, water and energy efficiency, air change effectiveness, reduced use of resources and various other criteria.
