James is Vento’s Senior Design Engineer & Technical Consultant, and brings a wealth of experience from his role as a design specialist with Monodraught Ltd in the UK. Within his time with Monodraught, James progressed to become a Senior and integral member of the design team, playing a huge role in high profile projects from the initial design stage. James led the design of Five Star Green Star Ormiston Road Senior College and PPP Super SchoolsProject in Adelaide. On top of his work in Australia and New Zealand, his portfolio of work includes:-
Basildon Sporting Village – James worked to provide natural ventilation to a brand new, multi-million pound sporting complex to the Basildon area. Huge energy savings were achieved throughout the complex through the natural ventilation of WindCatcher technology.
Falmer Academy – James worked to naturally ventilate this large Academy in the Brighton region of the UK. The objective was to provide natural ventilation to as many areas and floors as possible. Acoustic-lined SOLA-BOOST® systems were implemented to achieve the dBA reduction required for quiet learning areas.
DMC Building – University of London – Large bespoke Monovent systems were utilised to provide a passive stack solution to this multi floored atrium area.
Rochdale BSF – James was an integral part of the Monodraught BSF schools strategy, which saw numerous facilities introduce natural ventilation to their school via the use of SOLA-BOOST systems.
East Midlands Airport – James worked to naturally ventilate several walkways at this airport. Design elements included acoustic lining which was a necessity given the nature of this particular project.
Outside of work, James is interested in football (soccer), F1, going to the gym and relaxing on the beach. James practices sustainability by using public transport, recycling his waste and composting all of his green waste.

Qualifications: Diploma in Architectural Technology TAFE NSW and Advanced Diploma in Sustainable Building Design TAFE NSW
Graduating with a certificate in Architectural Technology & an Advanced diploma in Sustainable Building Design, Andrew is a registered draftsman who is creative and passionate about sustainable building design. Andrew is extremely competent with AutoCAD, Revit, Google Sketchup and Photoshop software, therefore he brings a high level of design documentation skills into the office. Outside of work, Andrew is a Christian who enjoys drinking coffee, reading, guitar, cycling and surfing.

After studying Engineering in Photovoltaic’s and Solar Energy at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) James has gained experience in day lighting analysis, energy modelling and solar system design. James has also worked on various Green Star projects and this experience makes him a vital member of our team at Vento. James shows consideration in his dealings with others and is mindful of his impact on the environment by using passive ventilation at home. Outside of work, James enjoys playing his bass guitar, a bit of sport and fishing. James’ favourite quote is ‘Do… or do not. There is no try’.
Melinda is a socially driven, innovative and conscientious individual who brings her high degree of creativity to all aspects of her role as Marketing Coordinator. At the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Melinda was a member of the BUILD (Beyond UTS International Leadership Development) Program in which she undertook a semester of International Exchange at the Universita Cattolica Del Sacro Cuore in Milan, Italy. This program also led her to attend various seminars on entrepreneurship and sustainability. Melinda marries her interests in sustainability and cycling by riding to work every day. Melinda’s favourite quote is ‘Act as if what you do makes a difference, it does’.
Jack is currently completing the Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) Programme and utilises the knowledge he has gained through his Accounting degree from Macquarie University. Jack brings diligence to all aspects of his work and has a keen interest to continue improving his analytical skills in the accounting field by attending various workshops. Jacks kind-hearted nature led him to volunteer for Mission Australia for 3 months where he gained invaluable experience as an internal auditor working in a team based environment. Outside of work, Jack enjoys participating in sports such as soccer and swimming. Jack lives by his favourite quote, ‘Practice makes you perfect’.

WindowMaster® UK’s former Controls and Commissioning Engineer, Jakub Obr has acquired a specific skill set and experience through five years on the job training and various workshop sessions within the WindowMaster organisation. Jakub’s in-depth knowledge of the NV Comfort system and all other related Windowmaster products enables him to provide expert advice and guidance to Vento clients.
Outside of work, Jakub enjoys kayaking, running and travelling. Jakub’s favourite quote is ‘fortune favours the prepared’.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Arts in History (Nottingham University, UK) and various HND’s and NVQ’s in Engineering related topics.
James has five years experience working at Monodraught where he started his first two years as a Design Engineer and then moved onto become a Contracts Engineer thereafter.
