Warrigal Care Lake Illawarra
Project Name: Warrigal Care Respite Centre
Location: Lake Illawarra, New South Wales, Australia
Installation: SOLA-VENT® natural daylight and solar powered extract ventilation system
Control System: Standard On/Off Switch
Status: Complete
Vento Australasia has s
uccessfully supplied a SOLA-VENT® natural daylight and solar powered extract ventilation system at the Warrigal Care Centre in New South Wales.
This is the first installation of Monodraught’s SOLA-VENT technology in Australia with the cutting edge system pioneered in Europe now proving highly successful locally.
Supplied exclusively in Australia by sustainable climate solution specialists Vento, the SOLA-VENT is a fully integrated, renewable energy, natural daylight and ventilation system designed specifically for bathrooms and toilet areas. The system was installed in a bathroom in the day respite centre at Lake Illawarra to provide energy free natural extraction and lighting.

James Idle, Vento’s Senior Engineer, said SOLA-VENT provides an extremely low energy-use option for wet areas such as laundries and bathrooms with a solar powered extract fan and lighting system replacing the typical energy hungry exhaust and electric light systems.
“SOLA-VENT’s effectively combine extraction with natural daylighting and a solar charged battery pack that powers low wattage down-lighting at night,” he said.
“These systems are easy to install and ideal for the Australian environment with the first installation at Warrigal Care Centre an overwhelming success. “The system is available in two sizes making it a flexible solution capable of providing energy and cost savings across a wide range of commercial applications.
“In facilities such a s schools, offices and health centres the SOLA-VENT system is a highly effective and we are happy to have introduced this technology to Australia.”
Vento is the sole Australasian distributor of Monodraught products including the SUNPIPE, SOLA-BOOST® and WINDCATCHER product range in addition to the SOLA-VENT system.
Tristan Devitt, Warrigal Care’s Environmental Sustainability Office, said the product which runs on a silent fan will be far more effective in ventilating the air than conventional systems.
“The SUNPIPE® natural daylighting system allows a great amount of light through, with the electric light not being required during the daytime,” he said.
“Vento have been exceptional to work with on the SOLA-VENT trial. The key has been the access to communication we’ve enjoyed.
“The customer service has been prompt, professional and personable. The product itself was personally delivered by Vento.”
